Thor is a fictional character that appears in comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by editor-plotter Stan Lee, the character 1st appears in Journey into Mystery #83 (August 1962) and is based on the god of the same name from Norse mythology. Thor's father, Odin, decides his son needs to be taught humility, and consequently places Thor (without memories of godhood) into the body and memories of an existing, partially disabled, human medical student, Donald Blake. The mortal experience shapes Thor into an honorable and courteous individual who is loyal to all comrades.
