Stargate is a military science fiction media franchise owned by MGM that began in early 1994 with the feature film Stargate. The subsequent body of works detail an elaborate fictional universe where people from contemporary Earth interact with alien races possessing far superior technology. The franchise extends into three live-action TV series, Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis and Stargate Universe, the animated series Stargate Infinity, video games such as Stargate Worlds, novels, comics, and other works.
